Welcome! My name is Amanda Tabor and I am the Principal here at Story Elementary. I am so excited to be a part of our school and the Story family. Here are a few interesting facts about me: I graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce in 2000 with a degree in Elementary Education and a specialty in Reading. I also have a certification in Dance and Early Childhood. In May of 2007, I graduated with a Masters in Education Administration, and I am entering my 15th year in education. Four of those years were spent in Garland ISD, five were at Marion Elementary, four were at Olson Elementary as the Asst. Principal and the rest have been at Story. In 2005-2006, I was named Teacher of the Year at Marion, and in October of 2008, I was named Teacher of the Month for Collin County by KLAK Radio-McKinney.
In November 2002 I married my amazing husband, Josh. He coaches volleyball and softball at Wakeland H.S. in Frisco. Josh and I have a son named Braxton Tucker who was born on August of 2011. We also have a dog named Ryleigh and two cats named Sarah and Spock. In my spare time, I love to shop, read, go to Josh's games and spend time with family! Speaking of family... My parents are a huge part of my life, my dad is a retired Dallas police officer and my mom worked as a fitness instructor and interior decorator when we were little. I have one younger sister, Alexis, who is finishing her PhD in English from Indiana University and is currently working as a Writing Consultant for Collin College.
I look forward to working with each student and family at Story and making life long memories together. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
