Dear Parents, October 4 , 2012
This is the time of year where we begin recruiting students who would like to enter the UIL Contest. UIL stands for University Interscholastic League, an organization that governs all athletic and academic contests in the state of Texas. UIL academic programs are designed to support basic curriculum and allow the students to apply what they learn in the classroom. Students do this by selecting a contest to enter, spend a couple of months practicing the concepts after school under supervision of a coach, and then compete at the district-wide contest. (Please note contests may not proceed if it doesn’t have enough participants.)
A letter will go home this Thursday for students to sign up for UIL. Please send the slip in to your child's teacher. Practice will start soon!

The Allen ISD Elementary UIL Academic Contest will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Allen High School. The contests have staggered starting times and specific times will be given at a later date. For general time purposes, the first contests begin at 8:30 and the last one ends around 12:00. An awards assembly is held on the same day at 2:00. If your child would not be able to attend the competition on this date, please do not sign him/her up. Students may enter only one event.
