PALs Class Receives Award from 9/11 Tribute Center
The AHS PALs class and teachers have received an award from the 9/11 Tribute Center for their commitment to the historical and humanitarian memory of the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Archery Team Wins Second Consecutive State Title
The AHS Archery Team sent two teams to NASP 3D State Championship where they placed First and Second. This gives the team two consecutive state titles. Along with the team title, three archers also earned individual state titles.
Explorers Law Enforcement Team Places at McKinney ISD Regional Invitational Law Enforcement Competition
AHS had two, four-man teams compete and place in Law Enforcement Competition. Teams must be prepared to respond to one of twenty different scenarios which are not known until their turn to compete.
Photography Students Compete in ATPI Winter Conference
AHS Photography students were recognized in several categories at the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Winter Conference.
MCJROTC Sweeps Armed Drill Competition at Regional Meet
The AHS MCJROTC earned First Place in all four Armed Drill categories and a Fourth Place Overall finish at the Regional Drill Meet competing against eighteen other schools.
DECA Students Compete at Texas State Career Development Conference
Competing against over 4400 students from across Texas, AHS DECA students earn recognition in several categories and qualify for DECA International Competition.
AHS Jr., Meghana Nadella Advances to State Level Science Fair
Meghana Nadella won the Second Place award in the Environmental Science (Senior Division) at the Dallas Regional Science Fair earning her the opportunity to compete in the State Science Fair. Meghana also received five Specialty Awards from various other groups attending the Science Fair which will give her the opportunity to also compete in Specialty Categories at the State Science Fair.

AHS TAFE Students Win State Competition, Advance to National Competition
AHS had four students place First at the Texas Teach Tomorrow Summit with Katie Blanchard, AHS Sr., advancing to the National Educators Rising Conference after placing in the top 5 of the Texas Teach Tomorrow Summit.
AHS HOSA Students Place at the Spring Leadership Conference
AHS had four HOSA students place in the Area Competition of the Spring Leadership Conference and advanced ten to the State Level Conference.

AHS German Club Advances Fifteen for State Contest
The Eagle German Club competed at the Winterfest North Texas Regional German Contest against 538 German language students from more than 30 high schools across North Texas in various categories.
Eagle Art Students Advance to State Contest
Allen Visual Arts had 145 student entries compete in the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) where 124 Regional medals were received.
AHS Shooting Team Wins HOA
The Allen Eagle Competitive Shooting Team won a decisive High Over All award at the ACUI Shoot by out shooting the other high schools by over 88 targets and 5 of the college teams by 32 targets or more.

AHS Eagles Hockey Team Win State Championship
The AHS Eagle Hockey team won the State Championship game against Southlake Carroll Dragons with a resounding score of 5-0. This victory secured them a trip to the National Hockey Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio in March 2017.
Health Science Student Earn Nurse Aide Certifications
Health Science students are put through a rigorous state standardized test where their knowledge and skills are evaluated in order to earn their Nurse Aide Certification. Congratulation to these students on this prestigious accomplishment and their teacher on the amazing feat of 100% passing rate for thirteen consecutive year.

Allen Wrestling Team Captures Ninth Straight Dual State Championship
Eagle wrestlers posted impressive wins over five other high schools to win their ninth straight Dual State Champion title.
Eagle Divers Place at District Meet
Four AHS Diving Team members placed at the District 6-6A with Kaylea McCain and Kyle Schonefeld qualifying for the Regional Meet in February. Kyle also broke a school record and earned District Male Champion and Male Diver of the Year awards.
Eagle DECA Students Qualify Fifty-Four for State Competition
Sixty-two DECA students from AHS competed at the District 7 Career Development Conference in Haltom City. AHS ended the day with fifty-four of those students qualifying for State Competition to be held in February.

Senior Brett Kelley received 17th overall out of 132 students giving him 1st Chair for All-Region, Region 25 and 1st Chair for All-Area, Area 3.
Five AHS Orchestra Members Placed on the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Orchestras
AHS Orchestra students competed against 851 other high school orchestra students from across the state for 249 seats in the All-State Orchestras. Five of those seats were earned by AHS students.

Shooting Team Wins TexasYESS State Tournament
Thirty-one Allen Eagle shotgun team members competed in the TexasYESS (Texas Youth in Shooting Sports) State Tournament where they brought home Team High Overall, several individual awards, and $5,000.00 in endowment earnings as well as individual scholarship money. They will compete at the USAYESS National Tournament this summer.

AHS had 8 students travel to Nashville, TN where they were among 17,000 students from the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, China, Germany, and Guam in various business and marketing events. Two Allen HS students, Sr. Nathan Schobert and Sr. Mohammed Abu-Kanan, claimed a spot in the Over-All Top 10.
AHS Art Department Has Four Students Recognized by Congressman Sam Johnson
The AHS Art Dept. had 24 students compete at the 2016 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Texas where 4 students were recognized by Congressman Sam Johnson for their outstanding work.
UIL Team Earns 2nd Place at UIL Academics Region 1 6A Literary Meet
The Allen HS UIL Team brought home several medals with 7 students advancing to the State Meet.

Eagle Angle Newspaper journalists competed against 1,200 entries from more than 45 public and private high schools in the Dallas area where four AHS students were recognized as well as Senior Dillon Tye was selected for one of only five internships.

Area art students presented portfolios to be evaluated by professional artists and professors where 20 were chosen, 10 of which were from AHS, to be honored as Featured Artists in a prestigious art exhibition hosted by the Allen Arts Alliance.

The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual high school student who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The AHS MCJROTC Earns High Honors at Regional Competition and Qualifies for National Competition
The AHS Marine Corp JROTC (MCJROTC) competed against 15 other regional schools in several categories in a Regional Drill Meet and were highly successful to be such a new program, with one of the teams qualifying to compete in the National Finals. This is a very highly esteemed honor as only 4 MCJROTC teams from across the country earn this honor.

AHS Theatre students reenact Allen's train history with the first train robbery committed by the Sam Bass Gang in Texas.
AHS Junior, Lake Bishop, Achieves Master Class Shooter Status
In the last three National Sporting Clays Association tournament, Lake earned 21 punches which advanced him into Master Class shooter status, the highest class one can earn in the NSCA. There are only a handful of shooters in Texas at the high school level to accomplish Master Class shooter status.

Six AHS student have been selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the U.S. Department of Education as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program which honors the nation's most distinguished high school graduating Seniors.
Health Science Students Pass State Of Texas Certified Nursing Aid Exam
Thirty-nine AHS students passed the exam consisting of a written test and patient care skills evaluation after completing sixty hours of classroom learning and forty hours of performing patient services.
AHS Senior Receives U.S. Service Academy Recommendation from Congressman Sam Johnson
U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson has nominated AHS Senior Colleen Blahnik to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy highlighting her outstanding dedication to academics as well as extracurricular, civic, and service activities. Colleen will receive undergraduate education and training for commissioned offices for the United States Armed Forces.

Jr. Katherine Lambert Scores Perfect Score On ACT
Katherine made a rare and significant achievement of scoring a perfect score of 36 on the ACT college admission and placement exam. This is a feat achieved by less than one-tenth of one percent of all ACT test takers nationwide.
Track Team Members Earn Recognition at Texas UIL State Track Meet
The Allen Eagle Track Team had three athletes compete at the Texas UIL State Track Meet. The triple jump had two Eagles placing in the top 10 with So. Chelsey Cole earning 2nd place and Sr. Kiyana Dixon earning 6th place honors. Jr. Bryce Douglas earned 6th place honors in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles.

Horse Judging Team Advances to State Competition
The Allen HS Horse Judging team has advanced to the State Competition for the third year in a row. The students must compete in three rigorous rounds of judging and memorize an extraordinary amount of information.
Veterinary Science Team Advances to State Competition
Placing in the top seven teams in the Area Competition, qualifies the Eagle Vet Science team the opportunity to compete against 75 other teams from across Texas at the State Competition where the top 2 teams will earn a trip to compete at the National Competition.

AHS Shooting Team Wins First Place at Two Tournaments
The Allen Eagles Competitive Shooting Team earned 1st place in two tournaments over the weekend. It took outstanding dedication and concentration from the AHS shooters.
In Inaugural Year, History Club Set to Compete at National History Bowl
In it's inaugural year, the AHS History Club will be sending two teams of 4 students each to Washington DC to compete in the National History Bowl as one of only three Texas public schools and will compete against roughly 100 teams from across the United States.

Theatre Students Receive Recognition in District UIL One Act Play Competition
Theatre students competed in the 6-6A District UIL Once Act Play Competition where three students were recognized for their talents. These awards helped push the AHS UIL Academic Team into Top Team - 1st Place honors at the 6-6A District UIL Literary Meet.
AHS Wins Big in District UIL Literary Meet
AHS and Lowery students competed in 22 subject related areas at the District UIL Literary Meet winning Top Team - 1st Place honors and advanced 25 students in 10 individual and team events.
Sr. Bailey King Receives Automatic Data Processing, Inc. Henry Taub Memorial Scholarship
Bailey King, AHS Senior, has received the 2015 Automatic Data Processing, Inc Henry Taub Memorial Scholarship sponsored by ADP Foundation in pursuant to an agreement with National Merit Scholarship Corp (NMSC) and is presented along with the NMSC Finalist Awards. Special Scholarships are underwritten by many of the business organizations that also provide Merit Scholarship awards for students who qualify as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Recipients of Special Scholarships are chosen on the basis of their academic accomplishments from a pool of candidates who fulfill the sponsor's criteria and score high on the 2013 PSAT/NMSQT.
Mens Bowling Team Wins State Championship Title
Team Captain Bailey Mays, AHS Sr., shot a perfect 300 game in the State Bowling Tournament to help lead the Eagles to the 2015 State Bowling Championship title. Other team members include Co-Captain Matt Orchard (Sr.), Brock Pearson (Sr.), Nick Hodson (Sr.), Lawrence Fung (Jr.), Gavin Elder (So.), Blake Person (Fr.), and Hank Hagler (Fr.).

Shooting Team Wins HOA at YTF East Regional Tournament
The Allen HS Shooting Team won the High Over All honors at the Youth Target Foundation East Regional Tournament held in Tyler, Texas. With a strong showing of 41 AHS shooters, the Eagles edged out a first place finish over Dripping Springs High School by 3 targets to earn $9,000 in endowment earnings.
Theatre Students Receive Awards at UIL One Act Play Competition
Six of the AHS Theatre students received awards at the very competitive UIL OAP Zone Competition. Using very stringent guidelines set by UIL, they received six of the sixteen awards presented.
Senior Clayton Williams Wins Prestigious Music Award
The National YoungArts Foundation recognized Clayton as 1 of 787 winners out of 11,000 applicants from 47 states for his Musical Instrumental/Woodwinds/Oboe distinction. Winners were chosen through a multi-tiered, blind adjudication process and evaluated by celebrated masters in their artistic fields.

Junior, Nisha Kalyanpur, Wins Award at Dallas Regional Science Fair
Nisha Kalyanpur was awarded a 1st place in the Special Category Award at the Dallas Regional Science Fair for her cancer research.
Sandy Kulkarni, Chemistry Teacher, Awarded Maxim Integrated Teacher Award
For the second year in a row, Mrs. Kulkarni has been recognized with the Maxim Integrated Teacher Award for her tireless efforts in inspiring students in the Dallas Regional Science Fair. Since beginning the AHS Science Club six years ago, Mrs. Kulkarni has increased the number of students attending science fairs from only 4 students to this year 21, with 9 of those students bringing home awards.
Art Students Win Awards at County Competiton
AHS students participated in the Collin County Student Art Show at the Craig Heard Art Museum in McKinney and brought home several awards.

Fishing Team Anglers Place First
Juniors Aaron Anderson and David Bushland earned a First Place finish in a field of 91 teams by reeling in three fish totaling 8.52 lbs on a tough day of fishing on Lake Lewisville.

Allen HS Archery Team Wins Back-To-Back State Championships
The Allen Archery Team, in only it's fourth year of existence, made it's way to Belton, Tx to attend the National Archery In The School's Texas State Championships bringing home the state title in back-to-back years, qualifying them for the upcoming National Tournament. Senior Trevor Hoberg was the men's high score as well as the tournament high score with a 293/300 while Senior Melissa Petterson won the female division with a score of 289/300. Senior Derek Patoskie and Freshman Dorothy Cobb each placed fifth in their respective category.
MCJROTC Takes Fourth Place Overall In Only Second Competition
The AllenHS MCJROTC recently competed in Regional Drill Competition at Midway HS in Waco, Tx. Competing against fifteen other schools in armed and unarmed drill, color guard, academics, and physical fitness the AHS students placed fourth in only their second competition. The future is bright as they look forward to the next two competitions in Brenham, Tx and Dallas, Tx.
AHS Robotics Team Stands Out at FIRST Robotics Competition
Competing, for the first time, in the elite FIRST Robotics Competition, the Eagles make their presence known. Placing 20th out of 49 teams is an accomplishment itself but also being recognized as the Rookie Inspiration Award winner and having Sophomore, David Chaparro named to the Deans List (only 2 students of 96 nominees were presented the award) put the Eagles in position to reach further and soar higher.

German Club Students Place at State Competition
Braving the weather of Feb. 27-28, 2015, four Allen HS German Club students made the trip to San Marcos to compete in the State Contest. All four students placed in the top 9 of their respective event.
AHS DECA Members Recognized at State DECA Competition
Allen HS DECA sent 24 members to the Texas State DECA Development Conference to compete in a variety Business, Finance, and Marketing Competitions.
AHS Humanitarians Recognized by Red Cross for Making A Difference
Allen HS Red Cross Club assists the American Red Cross by hosting blood drives, raising funds at Eagle sporting events for disaster relief, supporting the military, participating in service projects, and helping prepare the community in the case of natural disasters.
Science Club Earns Awards at Dallas Regional Science Fair
AHS had twenty-one students participate in the Dallas Regional Science Fair. Nine of these students received awards.
AHS Senior Blazing Trails in Lacrosse
Adam Riestis blazes new trails in Lacrosse. Allen HS senior, Riestis, who will be attending Fairfield University in Connecticut, in the fall, is the first Allen Lacrosse player to receive a Division 1 scholarship.

Art Students Advance to State Competition
Allen Visual Arts had 120 students participate and brought home 111 awards at the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) held on Feb. 21, 2015. Eleven of these students will advance to the State VASE Competition held April 24-25, 2015.
Commercial Photography Students Place at ATPI Winter Conference
AHS has six student enter the ATPI (Association of Texas Photography Instructors) Winter Conference where all six received awards.
AHS History Club Has Two Teams Qualify for State Tournament
The only public school entered in the Regional Tournament of the Natural History Bowl, had two teams qualify for the State Tournament to be held Mar. 7, 2015 in Austin, Tx. where they hope to qualify for The National History Bee and Bowl.

Mr. Delgado Hosts Multiple Prestigious Wrestling Events
Mr. Jose Delgado (AHS Spanish Teacher) helps provide the best possible wrestling events to all wrestlers in Texas and is an avid supporter of the AHS Eagle Wrestling team.
AHS Animation Team Wins State Film Contest Championship
Five students from the Advanced Animation class were named State Champion in Division 2 (5A-6A schools) at the historic Paramount Theatre in Austin, Tx. In the Young Filmmakers Festival, 650 films were entered in three categories: Animation, Documentary, and Narrative and is open to all Texas high school students.
AHS Senior is DECA State Scholarship Finalist
Allen HS senior, Kendal Hays, has been named a finalist for the DECA District VII Texas DECA State Scholarship which will be awarded Feb. 26, 2015 at the Texas DECA State Conference.
AHS Junior Selected for Environment Summit
Allen HS junior, Lisa Olinger, has been selected to represent Texas as a National Youth Delegate to the 2015 Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. One of only 250 students across the nation, Olinger was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in leadership in the sciences and conservation studies.
UIL Academics Competes at Billy Ryan HS Invitational Meet
Seventy-five AHS UIL Academic students competed in the Large School category against 10 top-ranked area schools in the Billy Ryan HS Invitation competition finishing in 2nd Place. The district competition will be held Mar. 28, 2015 at Plano Senior HS.
Forty Health Science Students Pass State of Texas Certified Nurse Aide Exam
Forty students successfully passed the State of
Texas Certified Nurse Aide exam. The exam consisted of two parts, a
written test and a skills exam that consisted of demonstrating five patient
care skills to become a Nurse Examiner.
TAFE Students Qualify for Nationals
Six students representing the AHS-Texas Association of Future Educators competed at the Teach For Tomorrow Summit at Texas Tech University Feb. 14-15, 2015. All six students were recognized in their field and four will compete at the National Competition in Arlington, Virginia on April 23-25, 2015.
Archery Team Wins Ennis Tournament
The Allen Eagle Archery Team won 1st place at the Ennis Archer Tournament on Sat., Feb. 14, 2015 which qualifies three for the National Archery In The Schools Program State Championships in Belton, Texas on Mar. 5, 2015. These Eagles will compete against 1,600 other archers in hopes of winning a 2nd straight State Championship.

AHS Senior Named Presidential Scholar Candidate
Allen HS senior, Hannah Wang, has been named as a candidate for the 2015 United States Presidential Scholars Program. Based on SAT or ACT test results, Wang was one of only 3,900 students identified for the prestigious national program.
Twelve AHS Students Earn National Merit Finalist Honors
Twelve Allen HS students have been named National Merit Semifinalists and will be eligible to compete for $32 million in scholarships offered in the spring. The students were among approximately 16,000 students recognized as semifinalists in the national competition in September.
