Amanda Perkins Named Finalist For H-E-B Excellence Award

H-E-B Excellence Award
Cheatham Elementary fourth-grade math and science teacher Amanda Perkins has been named a 2017 finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, spotlighting her as one of the best educators in Texas.
Amanda was presented with a check for $1,000 by H-E-B’s Jill Reynolds for being a finalist in the Rising Star Award category. The Rising Star Award honors promising teachers with less than 10 years of experience. A $1,000 check also was presented to Cheatham Principal Stephanie Logan for the school’s use.
A panel of judges reviewed nominations from H-E-B customers, employees and community members to select the finalists for the award. Amanda will now be invited to Austin in May to compete on a statewide level for a cash prize of $5,000. Cheatham Elementary also will receive a $5,000 grant if Amanda wins.
H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education Awards program in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators in 2002 as a positive way to support pubic education in Texas. It has become the largest monetary program for educators in the state, spotlighting the best practices creativity of Texas educators.
