Boyd and Rountree Principals Named For 2017-2018
The Board of Trustees at their April 17 meeting appointed two new elementary principals. Judith Coffman has been named as principal of Boyd Elementary School and Lara Utecht has been named as principal of Rountree Elementary School. Both appointments are effective for the 2017-2018 school year.
Judith Coffman replaces Regina Frazier, who will be moving to Anderson Elementary School as principal in August. She comes to Allen from McKinney ISD where she has served as director of Bilingual/ESL Programs for the past four years.
Beginning her career as a teacher in southern California, Coffman first joined the Allen ISD staff in 2002 as a bilingual kindergarten teacher, ESL teacher and bilingual instructional specialist at Boyd Elementary School. She served as an assistant principal at Lovejoy ISD for one year and returned to Allen ISD as Vaughan Elementary School’s assistant principal. She was then appointed as principal of Story Elementary School before moving to McKinney ISD.
Coffman earned her Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Irvine and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. She is currently attending the University of Texas in Arlington where she is pursuing a superintendent certification.
Coffman and her husband live in Allen with their two children, a 10th grader at Allen High School and a third grader at Bolin Elementary School.
Lara Utecht served as assistant principal at Kerr Elementary since 2013. Utecht replaces Melissa Pursifull as principal. Pursifull will move to Lindsey Elementary School in Allen as principal in the fall.
She also served as a math teacher and campus intervention specialist at Kerr Elementary. She began her career with Garland ISD at Schrade Middle School as a math teacher and coach for girls’ basketball and track.
Utecht’s degrees include a Masters of Education Administration in 2007 from Texas A&M Commerce and a Bachelors of Business Administration Management in 2001 from Texas Tech University.
She has lived in Allen for the past 15 years. Lara and her husband Rhyan have two daughters, age 5 and age 2.
