Allen ISD's Community Bulletin Board, “Allen on the Go,” publicizes activities for local non-profit groups and organizations while saving them – and the district – time and money.
The initiative allows these groups to post information on programs, fundraisers, classes and other activities on an Allen ISD-hosted Web page rather than having to print hundreds of fliers.
Allen ISD posts fliers from non-profit groups on the Community Bulletin Board at www.allenisd.org/communityboard. The service is free to local non-profit organizations. The hallway display racks at all schools also are available for posting community fliers and announcements for parents
The Community Bulletin Board replaces the old “take-home” folders used in past years.
“Last year, more than 1.3 million sheets of paper were distributed to Allen ISD students by outside non-profit groups,” said Tim Carroll, Allen ISD Director of Public Information. “The volume and frequency of requests by community groups and businesses were increasing annually and we wanted to find a more efficient and less wasteful way of distributing this information.”
The Allen ISD Public Information Department is responsible for reviewing and approving online fliers to ensure that they meet the guidelines established by school board policy.
