Toys for Texans, a nonprofit organization created by Allen High School students, is nearing the conclusion of its summer program after distributing more than 3,500 toys to children in hospitals across North Texas.
As part of its mission, toy distribution stations were set up for patients at area hospitals including Medical City, Scottish Rite, Bryan’s House, Cook Children’s, Warren Center, Camp Summit, and SOS Richardson.
The group’s primary directors, Piyush Chintalwar, Carson Sheffield, Mitul Gouni, Marc D’Jmoos, and Samir Alam, worked diligently to bring joy to special needs and hospitalized children throughout the region.
As the organization’s students prepare to graduate in 2025, they have ensured the program’s future by passing responsibilities to the next group of freshman, sophomore, and junior AHS students.
Varish Karri, a sixth-grader at Preston Elementary, recently won the bronze medal in the under-13 category at the PAN AM Junior Championships in Mexico.
