2024 Bond Proposals
Voters have the opportunity to vote on three propositions:
Every campus in Allen ISD will receive improvements from the 2024 bond proposal
Student Opportunity
Purposeful redesign of learning spaces at Olson Elementary, Cheatham Elementary, Green Elementary, Norton Elementary, Anderson Early Childhood, Curtis Middle, and Ford Middle
Update and refresh devices for students as part of the Empower 1:1 Program with an established lifecycle management of five years for student devices
Upgrade classroom interactive/multimedia displays & audio/visual
Maintenance update to existing Allen ISD Activity Complex
Replace and resurface Lowery Tennis Court with installation of tiered seating for viewing, and stripe the courts with pickleball lines to be made available for community use
Replace track surfaces at Curtis Middle and Lowery Freshman
Build a multi-purpose complex at Allen High School that would include the addition of lecture-hall style classrooms, 120 yards of simultaneous-use space, more locker rooms, and training/recovery areas.
Upgrades to Existing Facilities
In previous bond proposals, several campuses have received major renovations that have redesigned learning spaces suitable for current teaching methods. Renovations have also updated flooring, wall coverings, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and other items that experience wear and tear in the 15 to 17 years between renovations.
A majority of the 2024 bond would be used to bring additional schools to this new standard of renovation to provide more district students with access to similar academic programming and educational experiences.
Major renovation projects would take place at:
Ford Middle School
Curtis Middle School
Olson Elementary School
Cheatham Elementary School
Green Elementary School
Anderson Early Childhood School
Norton Elementary School
Safety and Security
This bond would allow safety and security updates that will work together to make the campus more secure for our children and staff. Specific projects include:
Security camera system upgrades and additions
Additional cameras in campus areas to enhance security coverage
Replacement of AEDs, fire alarms, fire suppression and fire panels that are at the end of their life cycle.
Central lockdown capabilities
Intruder alert systems
Reconfigurations of the main entrances at certain campuses to enhance secure visitor entrances
Life safety system upgrades
Various campus technologies
Multipurpose complex will provide indoor practice space to students in the event of extreme heat/cold or other inclement weather.
Resurface tracks at Lowery and Curtis and the tennis courts at Lowery to provide safe, consistent surfaces for student and community use.
Technology
This bond would allow for improvements in the technology infrastructure. Those improvements would increase the speed, security, reliability, and connectivity to better support student learning. Specific technology upgrades include:
WiFi computer devices for students
Classroom media stations and campus print devices
Classroom technologies
WiFi computer devices for teachers/campus staff
Established lifecycle management of five years for student devices
Desktop computers for instruction and campus offices
Classroom interactive/multimedia displays and audio/visual upgrade
Complete the WiFi network campus upgrade
Complete the wired campus network upgrades
Capital Improvements
Some campuses would receive capital improvements from the bond proposal. For example, Ford Middle School has foundation issues which has caused the following:
Separation between the wall and floor in certain hallways, causing a gap large enough to pass a laptop between the classroom and hallway
Separation between hallway lockers and the wall in which they are installed
Inability to close/lock certain doors, causing the Maintenance teams to shave down the tops of doors in order to have them properly close and lock for security purposes.
Community Use
The tracks at Ereckson and Curtis middle schools are currently available for community use. If Proposition A is approved, Ford Middle School would receive a track that would also be available for community use. Additionally, Proposition A includes the resurfacing of tennis courts at Lowery Freshman Center (the tennis courts are located at Main St. and Jupiter). The tennis courts would be striped for pickleball and made available to the community, when not in use by students.
