For over 26 years, the Foundation For Allen Schools has awarded scholarships to students through the generosity of local donors. This year we are proudly awarding 187 students totaling $212,950 in scholarships thanks to our community members, organizations, corporate partners, families and schools. We celebrated our seniors, their parents and our scholarship donors at an awards dinner and ceremony on April 16 at the AHS PAC commons.
We had over 500 students access the application system, and we invited 300 students to interview with the committee. The committee was comprised of 40 community volunteers and board members who reviewed applications and conducted interviews. Scholarship criteria range from merit to needs based, and from schools attended to current activities or accomplishments. Scholarship awards are sent directly to colleges, universities or trade schools, and the students may use the funds for tuition, room and board, fees and books.
