Texas Bluebonnet Award Reading Program

Grades 3 through 6

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Reading Program is run by the Texas Library Association. Each year the selection committee takes suggestions from students, teachers, parents, and librarians from around the state of Texas to help create the master list of twenty books. This list serves as the nomination list for the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Schools register to promote the books on the master list through fun activities with grades three through six. Students in these grades that have read, or have heard read aloud, at least five books from the list are eligible to vote on their favorite. Voting takes place at the end of January, and the award winner is announced at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference in April.
Green Elementary students in 3rd through 6th grade are eligible to participate in this optional reading program. The librarian will review the program several times during library time between March 2024 and January 2025. Students are responsible for tracking which books from this year’s list they have read and submitting a form for each completed book. Students can check in at any time to see how many forms have been received by the librarina.

Students that have read five or more books will be eligible to vote during library time in January 2025. Students that have read ten or more books will also receive an invitation to the Bluebonnet Breakfast in the Green Library.

Choose your grade level below to submit a form for each book you read from the Bluebonnet List.

All forms are due by January 2025.

The Bitmoji library below includes links to book trailers for each of the 20 books on this year's list. Parents and students can use the book trailers to decide which 2024-2025 Bluebonnet books are right for them. Just click on the books on the shelf to see the book trailers. Some links are still being updated for the 2024-2025 list.
