TMEA Recognizes Sonya Pitcock with Administrators’ Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music Education

The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) recently honored Sonya Pitcock, Principal of Curtis Middle School, with the esteemed Distinguished Administrator Award.

This annual accolade is bestowed upon exceptional upper-level school administrators across the state who have played a pivotal role in upholding and enhancing quality music education programs within their campuses and districts. 

This award serves as a testament to Mrs. Pitcock's commitment to supporting and championing music programs at Curtis Middle School. Nominated by Amanda Su, Curtis Orchestra Director, Mrs. Pitcock's dedication has significantly contributed to the preservation and advancement of music education, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

 

Allen Eagle Competitive Shooting Team Achieves Fourth Place Nationally Following State Championship Triumph

The Allen Eagle Competitive Shooting Team recently secured a fourth-place finish in the Open Division of the Scholastic Clay Target Program National Competition. This achievement follows the team's victory at the State Championship held in San Antonio in June, marking their ninth state championship title.

Competing alongside more than 3,800 athletes from various regions, each athlete fired 200 rounds across the disciplines of Skeet, Sporting Clays, and Trap.

Foundation For Allen Schools Empowers Education with Generous Grants

The Foundation For Allen Schools continues its commitment to enriching education in Allen ISD by presenting substantial contributions for grants, the Allen ISD Mentorship Program, and teacher tuition reimbursement.

Grants Across District: The Foundation proudly allocates $197,400 in grants, benefiting 127 projects spanning diverse curriculum areas across every campus within Allen ISD. This investment impacts students from pre-K to 12th grade and supports critical subjects such as Advanced Academics, CTE, Fine Arts, Languages, Special Education, Math, Science, ELA, and more.

Mentor Teacher Program: A generous contribution of $80,000 funds the Allen ISD Mentor Teacher Program for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This program salutes experienced educators who serve as mentors, guiding newer teachers to excel in their classrooms and enriching the educational experience for all.

In addition to these endeavors, the Foundation For Allen Schools further aids the district's teacher tuition reimbursement program with a substantial gift of $15,000. In total, the Foundation invests an impressive $292,400 in Allen ISD students and educators during this academic year.
