Congressional app winners

At its January meeting, the Allen ISD Board of Trustees recognized outstanding achievements by students from Allen High School and Chandler Elementary. 

The Board honored a team of Allen High School students—Varun Hittuvanlli, Aayan Ali, Nikhi Saravana, and Saketh Sripada—for earning second place in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for the U.S. House Third District. Their app, Civic Compass, uses location data to provide personalized voting and election information. This national contest fosters an appreciation for computer science and STEM, showcasing the innovative spirit of Allen ISD students.

Additionally, the Board celebrated Chandler Elementary sixth-grader Minha Kim, who earned third place in the 5th-6th grade category of the 2024 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Art Contest. Cotton Bowl Art WinnerCompeting against more than 10,000 entries from across North Texas, Minha’s artwork stood out for its creativity and artistic talent. Her work, along with that of other winners, is displayed at AT&T Stadium and distributed as commemorative gifts during Cotton Bowl events. 

These achievements reflect the dedication and talent of Allen ISD students in academics and the arts.
