At the November meeting, the Allen ISD Board of Trustees recognized the work of the Project Kids committee, a group of 81 parents, grandparents, community members, students, and Allen ISD teachers and staff.
This dedicated committee played a pivotal role in the success of the 2024 bond election, which resulted in the approval of Propositions A and C, with more than 98 percent of the proposed funding gaining voter support.
Formed in February 2024, Project Kids met six times between February and May to identify and prioritize capital projects for consideration in the bond election. Members engaged in an advisory capacity, receiving detailed information on school finance, tax rates, completed projects from the 2020 bond election, and assessments from the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee. Their work included collaborative discussions, asking questions of district leadership, and building consensus around the most critical needs of students and staff.
The committee’s recommendations helped the Board of Trustees craft a bond proposal that addressed district priorities. Voters' approval of Propositions A and C will result in significant enhancements that directly benefit Allen ISD students and staff.
The Board expressed gratitude to each committee member for their time, effort, and commitment to the district’s future. Their collaboration and dedication exemplified the power of community involvement in shaping the educational experience for Allen ISD.
