Semester Final Exam Information

Final Exam Exemption Policy

Allen High School students can earn final exam exemptions by adhering to the criteria in the Exemption Policy.

Please contact your house office if you have questions about making up missed exams. Students have 10 days to complete a missed exam once the school year resumes in the spring or within 10 days of the conclusion of the spring semester.

Exemptions are from taking the exam, NOT from attending school.

No exams may be taken early.

* Students sitting for an AP/IB exam may earn an additional spring exemption in that course.

Students must still meet the criteria listed above AND sit for an AP/IB exam. If a student misses/skips their AP/IB exam or it gets moved to exception testing and they do not attend/take their exam, their Final exam grade will be updated to a 02 to indicate that they missed their exam. This may result in a lower semester grade than anticipated.

How to Sign Up For Your Exemption:

Students who qualify for an exemption (are in good standing for Fines, Discipline and Eagle Engagement points) will receive an email through Skyward with a form to request which courses they would like to exempt. If students meet the attendance and grade exemption criteria their teacher will exempt them from their exam.

Students should carefully evaluate where they stand in each course with their combination of absences and their grade. No changes to this request can be made after submission.

If a student requests a course exam to be exempt but does not meet the attendance and grade requirement on the day of the exam, the student must take that exam.  Students are also required to be in attendance on the date of the exam as they are exempt from the exam but not from attending school.

Students must attend school on the day of the exam even if they are exempt. The exemption is from taking the exam, not from attending school.
