Enrollment: K-12
Program Goals
Screen all kindergarten and first grade students for risk of dyslexia
Refer students in grades K-12 who may be at-risk for dyslexia and related disorders for a full initial and individual evaluation
Provide intervention that includes:
Phonemic awareness
Grapho-phonemic knowledge (phonics)
Language structure
Linguistics
Process and strategies for decoding, encoding, word recognition, fluency, and comprehension
Provide explicit, direct instruction that is systematic, sequential, and cumulative
Provide intensive, highly concentrated instruction that maximizes student engagement and uses specialized methods and materials
Provide multi-sensory instruction that incorporates the simultaneous use of two or more sensory pathways (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, tactile) during teacher presentations and student practice
Provide professional development to educators of students with dyslexia and related disorders
Provide to parents of students enrolled in the district information on dyslexia and related disorders
