Anderson Early Childhood School recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the first year that the school will be educating and impacting pre-k students in Allen ISD. The event was attended by family members of George Anderson, board members, staff, and families new to the school.
“This marks a milestone in Allen ISD’s history. The opening of the George Anderson Early Childhood School symbolizes our commitment to nurturing the minds of our youngest learners,” said Superintendent Dr. Robin Bullock. “With this school, we are laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning, setting our children on a path to success from the very beginning.”
The 2023-2024 school year will be the first year all pre-kindergarten students in Allen ISD are at the same campus. This will encourage collaboration among colleagues, promote a cohesive approach to professional learning, and ultimately provide improved learning opportunities in the classroom.
“Starting this year, children from all over our school district will travel to this campus to begin their young educational journey,” said Board Vice President Kevin Cameron. “In twelve years, they’ll cross the graduation stage as Allen Eagles, but they will look back proudly on their first years of school as Anderson All Stars. And that is something that I believe is truly inspiring.”
George J. Anderson was a life-long educator in Allen. After many years of service with Allen ISD, the Board of Trustees visited his house early one morning and brought the declaration that they were naming a school after him. That morning he said, “I now have 900 children this year.” Mr. Anderson could always be counted on to shake the hands of students and families to welcome them on their first day of school until his passing in 2003.
