Allen ISD Named ‘School District of the Year’ Finalist in 2024 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards

 

Allen ISD has been named a “School District of the Year” finalist in the prestigious 2024 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program. Competing in the large school district category, Allen ISD is one of only five finalists statewide. The winner will be unveiled at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on May 5 in Houston.

Dr. Robin Bullock, Superintendent of Schools at Allen ISD, expressed gratitude for this acknowledgment, stating, "The teachers and support staff in Allen ISD give selflessly to support our students in their educational journey. Thank you to H-E-B and the Excellence in Education Awards judges for recognizing the impact that happens every single day in our school district."

Allen ISD was named a finalist due in part to the exceptional educational programs offered to students, leadership and growth opportunities for staff members, and a focus on community outreach programs like Leadership Academy, Silver Eagles, and Community Engagement Night.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program is known for spotlighting outstanding achievements in Texas public schools. As a finalist, Allen ISD will receive $5,000 from H-E-B. Should Allen ISD emerge as the statewide winner, H-E-B will grant an additional $100,000 to further support the district's initiatives. Since the program's inception, H-E-B has contributed more than $13 million to benefit exceptional Texas public schools and early childhood facilities.

“H-E-B is known across the state for supporting local communities and Texas public schools,” said Sarah Mitchell, Allen ISD Board President. “Amazing stories are happening in our schools every day, and we are grateful to H-E-B for recognizing and celebrating these accomplishments.”

Allen ISD will compete in the Large School District category, specifically designed for districts with more than 10,000 enrolled students. This recognition follows Allen ISD's previous distinction in 2017 as a statewide finalist in the School District of the Year category. In 2022, the Allen ISD Board of Trustees was named School Board of the Year in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program.
