Curtis Middle School students recently experienced the wonders of Virtual Reality during Mona Abdelkarim’s science class. The VR devices were donated by Meta Quest 2 to Curtis in a pilot project to gauge their application across the district.
Green Elementary School recently hosted a World Culture Night. Green families shared their culture, traditions, food, and fun during the PTA-sponsored event.
The Allen High School Wrestling team is selling smoked and sugared hams as a fundraiser for the program. The hams cost $50 and may be ordered at https://www.allentxwrestling.com/hamstore. Buy a ham and support our state champion boys and girls!
CLASS OF 2024: The senior class is invited to apply for a variety of locally funded scholarships, organized into ONE application by the Foundation. This streamlines the process for students, encourages more students to apply, and provides a variety of quality applicants to the local funding organizations and businesses. The criteria spans from test scores and GPA to extracurricular activities and financial need. Kids Club recently held their Trunk or Treat event. Kids Club staff hosted the trunks and Kids Club families got the treats!
Students of all ages dressed up for Halloween at the STEAM Center, including Vaughan Elementary Second Graders, who were there to enjoy the wonderful learning program that the STEAM center offers to every single Allen ISD Elementary student.

Teacher Leaders from across the district met this week to cultivate their leadership skills. They also had small group interactions with district leaders where they learned about various leadership opportunities within the district.

Rathan Bolar, an Ereckson Middle School student, earned a spot on the USA Karate Junior National team and recently placed third at the Pan American Karate Championships in Santiago, Chile, against competitors from 24 countries.
Additionally, Rathan was selected as one of the top two athletes in the U.S. at the Karate National Championships and USA Team Trials in Virginia. As a part of the USA National team, Rathan trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs before the Chile competition.
In a letter to Rathan’s parents, Sasha Gerritson, a Board Director of the USA National Karate-do Federation said, “Your student is part of an elite group of US Athletes who will represent our nation in national and international competition.”
Rathan began practicing Karate when he was 9 and trains for five hours a week to reach this high level of competition. Congratulations Rathan!
Today was Reading with the Eagles at Kerr Elementary. Students were welcomed by Allen Eagle football players and cheerleaders as they entered the building. And, of course, there was a parade!
The Allen Eagles paid a visit to the Otters at Olson Elementary this morning for Reading with the Eagles. So much fun!
